A Family-Friendly Christmas in Cayman 2019

As Christmas approaches and our social calendars fill up, navigating the Island’s festive party scene can be particularly hard work when you have children in tow! Keep everybody happy and in good cheer this year with Cayman Parent’s family-friendly Christmas calendar.

Bingo Bells

Enjoy a night of festive night of Bingo on December 13th from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Mary Miller Hall. Dress in festive colors and enjoy Grandma Judy’s famous spaghetti dinner – for only $10pp, or 3 tickets for $25. All proceeds go towards supporting youth programs at the YMCA!

Santa Photos & Sightings

Children in Cayman are lucky enough to have two weekly visits from Santa in Camana Bay. On Thursdays (5pm-7pm) throughout December little ones can have their photos with Traditional Santa and on Saturdays (3pm-5pm) Santa goes Island-style with his tropical shirt and shorts.

From November 23rd (3pm-7pm) Santa will be joined by Elsa (!) from Frozen, at Celebrations Cayman (64 Kingbird Drive, George Town). Try out Santa’s trusty Naughty and Nice meter, write down your name on the Registry of Wishes and post your Christmas list in the mailbox of letters for Santa.

Life-size Gingerbread Cocktail Bar

Don’t miss the Kimpton’s life-sized gingerbread bar + house crafted from 800lbs of spiced cookie dough, 350lbs of icing, and 100lbs of candy. The bar stands 12 feet tall and 15 feet long and offers festive signature cocktails for a sweeter way to toast the season. Open the 2nd December 2019-4th January 2020.

Christmas on Cardinall

Kirk Freeport invites families to join them for a very special evening of festive fun. Enjoy child-friendly activities, food and drink, a photo both and an epic fireworks finale! 14th December 2019.

Santa Run 2019

Join (or watch!) as a parade of Santas, big and small, make their jolly way around Camana Bay for the 2019 Santa Run on Sunday, December 14th! This family-friendly run starts at 6.30am on the Crescent. Costumes and festive accessories encouraged!

Gingerbread Man Afternoon Tea

The Ritz-Carlton offers a special tea where families can enjoy a children’s Christmas tea party where guest can decorate your own very own gingerbread man, enjoy sandwiches and sweets, and meet Santa. Adults: $75, Children 6-12: $45, ages 3-5s: $20. December 14-15 and 20-24.

Dancing for a Cause

Organised by Miss Jackie’s School of Dance to support Father Richard Ho Lung’s Missionaries of the Poor worldwide, and in the Cayman Islands. 14th December.

Christmas at the Castle

Enjoy a Caymanian Christmas celebration under the stars at the Pedro St James Castle. Christmas at the Castle aims to delight in the reason for the joyous season – Jesus’s birth. Free admission. Food and drink on sale. 15th December.

St Ignatius Christmas Concert and Fundraiser

St Ignatius’ annual Christmas concert full of festive tunes from the school’s band and choirs, plus the winning cash prize of $25,000 to be won! 16th December.

Holiday Moonlight & Movies

Families can enjoy a classic Christmas movie shown on a giant screen on the Crescent in Camana Bay. Saturday 17th December 2019.

National Trust Christmas Lights Bus Tour

Enjoy a true ‘Christmas in Cayman’ experience with the annual National Trust Christmas Bus Tour. Attendees will be taken on a tour of the Island’s most festively decorated homes – singing Christmas carols along the way. Bus capacity is limited so to ensure a space RSVP by emailing Friday 20th December 2019.

12th Annual Mistletoe

Transform your glam with your best whites and boogie under the stars the entire night at the must-attend event of the season. Tickets are CI$30 per person and proceeds will benefit the Lions Club of Cayman. 20th December.

Christmas Night Market, Marriott

Join the Marriott Beach Resort for their Christmas Night Market event, a unique foodie and shopping experienced. Features live music, delicious street food, handcrafted cocktails and cool retail stalls full of endless summer-inspired goods. Bring your family along for festive-themed food and beverage offerings and fun family-friendly activities. 20th December.

Gingerbread House Workshop

Get creative at the Ritz-Carlton’s annual Gingerbread House Workshop. Led by their pastry chef, children and adults gather to build a classic gingerbread house complete with icing, gumdrops, and more edible decorations. Great festive fun for the whole family! 8th, 15th, 21st and 22nd December 2019.

‘The Nutcracker’ Screening

Enjoy a screening of Bolshoi Ballet Company’s The Nutcracker as part of the Culture at the Cinema series. 21st and 22nd December .

Dashing Through the Sand

Work off the turkey and Christmas beef on this Boxing Day walk/run along Seven Mile Beach. The 1.5-mile trek is open to all ages and includes breakfast and raffle prizes. 26th December.

Visual Arts Society Christmas Craft Market

Interactive family activity under the stars. Enjoy an evening of food and fun enjoying BBQ food including marshmallow roasting. Features live music and fun activities. 26th and 30th December 6.30pm-9pm.

Christmas Day Family Brunch, Ritz-Carlton

Take the stress out of Christmas and join the Ritz for their Christmas Day family brunch. 25th December 11am-3pm.

New Year’s Eve

One of the biggest nights of the year in Cayman! Those looking to ring in the new year will find a huge range of party options from beach parties and black tie events to live music and gourmet dinners. Alternatively get a bunch of friends together and decamp to Seven Mile Beach to watch the magnificent fireworks displays at midnight! Keep an eye on the calendar as more New Year’s Eve events are added.

Boxing Day Seniors Lunch

Annual Christmas event for senior citizens, organized by Rotary Club of Grand Cayman. 26th December 2.30pm.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

This is one of Cayman’s biggest and best events! Camana Bay is transformed into a sparkling wonderland with a majestic Christmas tree, inspiring musical performances by The Cayman National Choir, a Christmas craft market and a special visit from Santa Claus. Join in the countdown to the switching on of the lights of Camana Bay’s 40ft Christmas tree! This event does get quite busy and we recommend booking a table at one of the nearby restaurants (Brooklyn Pizza + Pasta, Mizu or The Waterfront) or bars (Karoo or The King’s Head) for a great vantage point. A charming event suitable for the young and old. 16th November 2019.

Christmas Crafts and Arts Bazaar

Join Girlguiding Cayman for their Christmas crafts and arts Bazaar on November 23rd (10am-2pm) where there will be crafts, baked goods, handmade jewelry, henna tattoos and so much more! All proceeds support Girlguiding Cayman.

The Singing Christmas Tree

The Singing Christmas Tree is a spectacular event which highlights the story of Jesus’ birth depicted through a 25 foot Christmas tree encased with over 5,000 lights and 60 local and international performers. The 90 minute show is accompanied by a superb orchestra. 23rd and 24th November 2019.

Jungle Bell Run

Burn off those Christmas calories, along with hundreds of other runners, at this annual 5k and 10k Jingle Bell run. A delicious breakfast is served after the run and spot prizes awarded. Proceeds are donated to the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre. CI$25. 1st December 2019.

Cayman National’s Parade of Lights

Cayman National’s Parade of Lights is a wonderful Cayman tradition in Camana Bay. Thousands watch as beautifully lit up boats of every shape and size sail into the harbour in Camana Bay all competing for the prize of the most magical boat. Wander around the Christmas market, enjoy live music and carols and watch the fantastic firework display that wraps up the night! 7th December 2019.
