Your Long Weekend List ! 10 Family-Friendly Activities

Monday January 27th is a designated public holiday used to honour those who have made great contributions to the Cayman Islands. This long weekend, whether you want to unwind, spend time with family and friends or learn more about Cayman’s history and culture, we have compiled a list of ten events and activities to keep you and your family busy and entertained.

 

SATURDAY January 25th

Kids Club at the Cinema: Kids and adults can take in family-friendly classics at the Camana Bay Cinema. Featuring brighter lights and softer sounds. This Saturday the Kids Club will be showing Charlotte’s Web – G. [10am-11.30am, Cost: $5, Regal Cinema, Camana Bay] More Info

Cayman Cricket Premier League Match: Come out and watch the Cayman Cricket Premier League as they play to win the title of Premier League Champion. Saturday: West Bay Loggerheads vs George Town Hammerheads  [1pm, Jimmy Powell Oval, West Bay]

Cayman Islands National Museum: Catch up on Cayman’s culture! The museum holds two permanent exhibition galleries, three changing galleries (including one for children) and an audiovisual theatre. [10am-2pm, $8 Adults, $6 children, 3 Harbour Drive at Shedden Road George Town] More Info

Magical Unicorns and Mystical Dinosaurs: Your kids will love getting creative with Unicorns and Dinosaurs at the 3GK studio and glazing their very own mystical and magical creature perfect for their room! [ More Info

Imagination Playground: A fun, interactive concept in play, Imagination Playground invites kids to build, dream and explore a new world every week in the Town Centre’s dancing fountains with giant foam blocks in all shapes and sizes. Little ones can recreate familiar objects, like animals, rocket ships and robots; build imaginary places, like houses, islands and cities; invent new games and dramatic scenarios; or simply make new friends. SUNDAY January 26th

Botanic Park Family Fun Day: The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and the Garden Club of Cayman will be hosting its annual family fun day. Activities will include craft making, games, live music and a magic show. Raffle tickets, food, drinks, treats and select plants will also be on sale [ 10am-3pm, Cost: Adults $5, children 12 and under $1, Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, North Side] More Info

Stride Against Cancer Walk/Run: Join the Nationwide Stride Against Cancer by coming out to support the annual walk/run. All proceeds will go to benefit the Cayman Cancer Society. [ 6.30am-9am, Cost: CI$30, West Bay Road Public Beach] More Info

Cayman Cricket Premier League Match: Come out and watch the Cayman Cricket Premier League as they play to win the title of Premier League Champion. Sunday: Bodden Town Eagle Rays vs West Bay Loggerheads. [1pm, Jimmy Powell Oval, West Bay] Mag

Kids Dollhouse Design Workshop- Art Nest: Kids ages 6 and up will have fun designing their own pre-made wooden doll house. $125 includes doll house, materials, supplies, instructions and snacks.[3pm-5pm, Art Nest Creative Studio, Maclendon Drive] More Info

 

MONDAY January 27th

National Heroes Day: National Heroes Day ceremony honours those who have made significant contributions and accomplishments in Cayman. This year’s ceremony will honour the vestrymen and justices of the peace who were influential in the creation of the Cayman Islands’ Coat of Arms. After the ceremony there will be local food and live entertainment, as well as a Coat of Arms exhibit in George Town Library. [ 8.30am. Astronomy Viewing at Pedro: Observe the close encounter between Venus and Neptune as they stage the closest planetary conjunction of the year. [ 6.30pm-8.30pm, Pedro St. James Castle] More Info
