Cayman Theraplay hosts various camps through the summer holidays including a Jungle Explorers camp, a Get, Set, Ready for School camp and a few others.

Annual Camp Details

Summer Holidays Updated for 2022

Jungle Explorers!
Brief:
In this 4 day camp your child will develop their gross, fine and visual motor skills through a range of jungle themed activities. They will build on their social interaction and team building skills working and interacting with peers. They will explore all the senses of the jungle through arts and crafts, messy play and sneak through the jungle on the lookout for animals.
Age Range: 4-8
Dates: July 5th-8th (Tuesday-Friday) 2022
Hours: 8.45am-10.15am
Cost: CI$350 per week (some insurance companies may cover some of the cost of this camp)

Get, Set, Ready for School!
Brief: This camp is facilitated by our licensed therapists and is kept small with a maximum of 8 children and a ratio of 4:1. In this 1 week camp, your TheraKid will get set, ready for school with school-based activities. We will be targeting fine motor, visual motor and social-based games to get those eyes, hands and brains ready to learn and reconnect with peers just before the school year starts!
Age Range: 5-8
Dates: August 22nd-26th (Monday-Friday)
Hours: 8.45am-10.15am
Cost: CI$438 for the week (some insurance companies may cover some of the cost of this camp)

Let's Bee Social!
Brief:
This 3 week camp is based on the core foundations and principles of the evidence-based Social Thinking Curriculum. Your social bees will be encouraged to activate their social learning abilities through turn taking games and team games to connect with their peers in a motivating and safe environment. Included in each day is an ice breaker to encourage buzzing connections between group members, a social-themed activity to introduce the Social Thinking concepts and a social-based game to practice constructive social interactions! Activities will be adjusted according to developmental needs.
Age Range: 5-8
Dates: 3 times a week for 3 weeks, July 11th-29th (M,W,F)

LITERACY AND FINE MOTOR PROGRAMS - August 1st-August 19th (Monday, Wednesday & Friday) 2022
Cost for the Literacy Programs are $790 and cost for the Fine Motor Bootcamps are $395; some insurance companies may cover some of the costs
Fine Motor Bootcamp (ages 5:6-8:6, and ages 7:0-11:6)
Brief:
This 3-week program will be targeting the fundamental skills for handwriting. Our goals will incorporate movement, strength and refined fine motor skills through sensory play, gross motor activities, arts and crafts, and writing to improve pencil grip and fine motor precision! This is a great add-on to warm up the hands to get ready for the literacy program that starts right after on the same days.
Dates: 3 times a week for 3 weeks, Aug 1st-19th (M,W,F)
Age and Time: 5:6-8:6 years old from 8:30-9:15am
Age and Time: 7:0-11:6 years old from 3:00-3:45pm
Cost: $395 (some insurance companies may cover some of the cost of this camp)

Foundations for Learning to Love Literacy: Stage 1
Reading and Spelling

Brief: This 3-week program will be using components of the Seeing Stars® Program using symbol imagery for phonological and orthographic processing in reading and spelling to target the fundamental skills to literacy development. Our goals will focus on print knowledge/awareness, alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness, early decoding abilities, sight word recognition, phonological awareness, phonics/word study, comprehension, reading fluency, vocabulary, spelling, sentence construction, planning and revising. Program focus is on reading and spelling.
Age Range: 5:6-8:6
Dates: 3 times a week for 3 weeks, Aug 1st-19th (M,W,F)
Hours: 9:15-10:45am

Skills for Visualizing and Verbalizing Literacy: Stage 2
Written, Reading and Oral Comprehension

Brief: This 3-week program will be using components of the Visualizing and Verbalizing® for a multisensory approach to language comprehension and thinking to improve your child's ability to create imagery for comprehension and high order thinking, and organize/structure sentences and paragraphs with the understanding that words in text create images for the reader. Our goals will focus on reading comprehension, oral language comprehension, oral language expression, written language and critical thinking. These areas will cover skills needed to recall main ideas, following directions, understanding jokes or humor, making inferences, organizing your thoughts to express yourself verbally and in written language, increasing attention during conversations, organizing and structuring paragraphs and words in text to create images for the reader.
Age Range:
7:0-11:6
Dates: 3 times a week for 3 weeks, Aug 1st-19th (M,W,F)
Hours: 3:45-5:15pm
