Music at the Library presents Hymns Reimagined: A Pianist’s Journey Through Faith and Jazz, a solo recital by pianist Marlon Cortes.
The programme features Cortes’s original arrangements of familiar hymns, bringing jazz rhythms and harmonies to traditional melodies. Selections include To God Be the Glory, Blessed Assurance, Amazing Grace and The Old Rugged Cross.
Presented by Cayman Arts Festival and the Cayman Islands Public Library Service as part of their monthly concert series, the one-hour performance explores the connections between sacred music and jazz. Cortes’s interpretations revisit the hymns’ enduring themes of faith, hope and grace through a contemporary musical approach.
