About

Bishop's College School (BCS) is an independent, boarding prep school in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada for students in Grades 7 to 12. Founded in 1836, BCS is the fifth oldest private school in Canada.

Their core values (Lead, Grow, Engage, Experience, Explore) shape their students' personal and academic journeys. Students learn together in a diverse and inclusive community, where each individual contributes to the BCS family. BCS teachers don't just teach — they inspire, and students don't just study — they challenge themselves, expanding their horizons and excelling in ways they never imagined before arriving. Students have countless opportunities to engage in hands-on learning experiences and blossom into the world’s next generation of leaders.

Mission: Bishop’s College School creates a caring community of learning and development where cultures connect and individuals matter.

Facilities

The eight houses are an integral part of the seven-day boarding experience. Students have a roommate and private space to feel at home on campus. Each house has a common area and full kitchen for student use.

BCS athletic facilities include an on-campus indoor hockey rink, two full-size basketball courts, a 40-foot climbing wall, three international squash courts, and a newly-renovated fitness centre. Outdoor facilities include six sports fields, three new tennis courts, volleyball court, basketball court, and several kilometres of wooded cross-country trails. A university swimming pool and the local golf course are within walking distance of BCS.

The on campus performance centres and spaces include an expansive art room, band room, drama room, podcast studio, state-of-the-art black box theatre, and breathtaking chapel.

Extracurricular Activities

BCS co-curricular activities offer a chance for students to hone their skills, try new things, make friends, and have new experiences. Students have founded many of these clubs, based on missing activities or newfound passions. Visit the website to see this year's options.

On weekends, students enjoy indoor and outdoor activities on the 250 acre campus, including ice skating, hiking, biking, ping pong tournaments, movie nights and much more! During long weekend breaks, BCS offers trips ranging from tourist to educational and adventure weekends. Past destinations include Montreal, Toronto and New York City, with activities such as dogsledding and skiing.

At BCS, organied sports are called "crease," which include over 20 competitive and non-competitive team and individual options, such as Adventure Training, Soccer, Lacrosse and Horseback Riding. Students participate in three creases per year, five days a week and learn new skills while having fun as a team member.
