About

In a quiet corner of George Town awaits a magical schoolhouse where the joy of childhood abounds. Cross the bridge over the koi filled pond to find Little Trotters, a haven of laughter, imagination, play and endless opportunities for social interactions. The primary focus is on traditional values, kindness and responsibility. The children feed the animals, water the plants, bake, paint, perform in plays, sing, dance and truly become their best selves. Little Trotters provides a nature based curriculum that follows both the CIEYCF and EYFS to ensure that the children have a wide range of valuable experiences in their early years.

It is our hope that children will leave Little Trotters filled with joy, confidence and a love for learning. We focus on encouraging resilience, collaboration and independence, ensuring a strong foundation in skills that are central to future learning. Our outside environment allows for plentiful opportunities for creating, experimenting, and working together, and caring for our school animals teaches compassion, respect and responsibility. Within the classrooms, we introduce age appropriate themes, such as Farm Animals, Shapes and Colours, or Lifecycles, to fill the children’s days with new ideas and concepts about the world around them. Across all three age groups, appropriate pre-academic skills are an intrinsic part of the environment. In the oldest class, the Iguana class, the children are introduced to the idea of more structured learning opportunities with phonetical awareness using the Jolly Phonics programme, a Maths programme that introduces early Maths concepts, and also an introduction to basic Spanish words.

The staff and teachers at Little Trotters are hand-picked to create a well-rounded, inclusive and supportive experience for the children. The most important trait in all of our practitioners is a love, reverence and passion for the importance of early childhood. Our staff are a multinational group who hold a wide range of valuable qualifications and experience, and all staff are First Aid and Safeguarding trained.

Our enrolments occur in September each year and our minimum age is 18 months.

Our youngest class is our Turtle class. The children then progress to the Stingray class, and finally the Iguana class before moving on to Reception at Primary School when 4 years old.

Little Trotters was graded as 'Excellent' in their last school inspection report. Please see the report here. The school was graded 'Excellent' in all categories including: Teaching, Exploration, Respect, Communication, Well-Being, Learning, Assessment, Curriculum, Health & Safety, Support & Guidance, Leadership, Links to Parents & the Community, Self Evaluation & Planning Ahead and also Staffing & the Learning Environment (May 2021 OES Report).
