Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park

Set across 65 acres tucked away in the natural splendor of the eastern corridor of Grand Cayman, the Queen Elizabeth Botanic Park features seven stunning gardens, woodland trails, a lake and wetlands, a nursery, and an inviting Visitor Centre and quaint gift shop.

The park is home to the renowned Blue Iguana Conservation (BIC) facility, the rare Ghost Orchid, the Wild Banana Orchid (Cayman’s national flower), the Cayman Parrot (national bird), native and endemic butterflies, and Rankine House, a preserved historic Caymanian home and more.

Explore the Heritage Garden, home to the historic Rankine House, and discover how Caymanians lived in days gone by. Wander through the vibrant Colour Garden, peaceful Woodland Trail, Xerophytic Garden, the enchanting Orchid Boardwalk; or the visit the Children’s Garden, a fun interactive space; or simply relax beside the lake, a favourite spot for birdwatching. Located just off Frank Sound Road in North Side, the Botanic Park is approximately a 40-minute drive from George Town.

Children's Garden
The Children’s Garden is a favourite for families, offering hours of exploration and play. Highlights include climbing frames, the CNB Splash Pad, observation tower, discovery pond, larger‑than‑life sculptures, a maze, tunnels, grow zone, and a sensory garden. With ample shade and a picnic area, it’s an ideal space for relaxed family time. The Rotary Schoolhouse, also located within the garden, is available for rental and is perfect for children’s parties, educational programmes, and other nature‑inspired events.

Orchid Boardwalk

One of the Park’s most enchanting features is the Orchid Boardwalk, a striking 600-foot raised walkway that winds through a seasonally flooding woodland. The naturally high humidity in this environment creates ideal conditions for epiphytes, supporting a rich collection of orchids and bromeliads. Thoughtfully positioned, the boardwalk allows visitors to observe these delicate plants much as they exist in the wild, with subtle chalk markings along the path offering clues to the location of the latest blooms.

The Nursery

The park’s Nursery plays a key role in its conservation mission, propagating native Caymanian plants to support biodiversity and preserve botanical heritage. By making these indigenous species available for purchase, the Nursery encourages their use in gardens and landscapes across the Cayman Islands, helping create resilient, climate‑adapted green spaces.

Blue Iguana Conservation (BIC) facility
Grand Cayman’s famed “Blue Dragons” are found at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park. The facility is operated by the National Trust for the Cayman Islands, the facility serves as a captive-breeding and conservation centre for the species, which faced near-extinction just two decades ago. Access to the facility is included in the entry cost to the Botanic Park in a self-guided tour.

Alternatively, you can book a guided 45-minute tour. Your guide will walk you through the facility, introduce you to some of the programme’s star breeders and explain how the Blue Iguana Recovery Programme has brought these endangered species back from the brink of extinction. Guided tours are available on Monday to Friday at 11am. The park can be hired for weddings and small events such as baby showers, afternoon tea and children’s parties.

Wedding Location
The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park is a magical setting for a wedding celebration. Manicured lawns can host 50 people, or a more intimate affair can be held in one of the park’s lush alcoves.

Park amenities include ample parking, restrooms, and golf cart transport of guests and the bridal party to the event spaces.

Park opening hours are 9am-5.30pm daily (last admission at 4.30pm), but evening weddings can be booked from 5pm until midnight. For more information visit www.botanic-park.ky/events/weddings.
