Each year on National Heroes Day, the Cayman Islands honours residents who have made valuable contributions to our nation and reflects upon past honourees.
The 2026 National Heroes Day Awards have had a name change for 2026 and will now be known as the National Recognition Awards 2026. This change, approved by Cabinet, helps distinguish award recipients from those bestowed with the title of National Hero.
The presentation ceremony will take place on 26th January at 8.30am in Heroes Square. The ceremony honours those who have shaped the economy of our Islands through their vision, hard work, and determination.
For the 2026 ceremony, the focus will be on “Physical Infrastructure”, celebrating those who have shaped Cayman’s built environment and laid the foundation for the country’s continued progress.
The award categories for the National Recognition Awards are as follows:
- Landmark Leaders (“Early Pioneers”)
