Freedoms Imagined; Freedoms Won: Long Celia & Elizabeth Jane Trusty is a new exhibition at the Cayman Islands National Museum exploring the lives of two enslaved women and their different paths toward freedom. Based on research by Dr. Roy Murray and curated by Brian Watler Jr., the exhibition presents the documented stories of Elizabeth Jane Trusty and Long Celia, highlighting how each woman understood and pursued freedom in early nineteenth-century Cayman. The exhibition offers a reflective and immersive experience designed to bring these histories to life.

Opens: Friday, 1 May 2026
Venue: Cayman Islands National Museum

As part of the exhibition programming, the National Museum is hosting a Speaker Series:
