About

ARK (Acts of Random Kindness) is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2006 and run by volunteers. They endeavour to be a friend to people in unique circumstances of crisis; to demonstrate kindness through loving acts of service.

They offer several programmes to help improve the lives of Cayman's least privileged residents.

CASA Home Improvement Programme
This programme aims to improve the standard of living Island-wide. From minor home improvements, to major renovation and construction of ‘Tiny Homes’. Volunteers are welcomed to paint and provide general on-site assistance. They welcome monetary donations to pay for supplies and skilled labour.

Re-Connect Cayman
ARK reconnects electricity and water for families who cannot afford to pay or maintain their utilities. In the many cases, the money owed on utility bills is so huge and longstanding that the family would never be able to pay it off, in order to get reconnected.

This programme is invaluable for families; without electricity and water, a functioning bathroom, children cannot live in a clean and healthy environment and acceptable living conditions.

ARK welcomes monetary donations or CUC/Water vouchers.

MER (Mentor-Educate-Reinforce)
This is an education programme which aims to break the cycle of poverty through intensive remediation for children with learning difficulties and delays. Volunteers are welcome to engage with students aged 7-13 and assist with the after-school club ‘MERKats’ club located at Government schools.

The Feed Cayman Programme
This programme addresses food insecurity in the Cayman Islands and has been invaluable to hundreds of families for over 15 years. Through this programme, ARK can commit to food support for the many families awaiting Government aid by the Needs Authority Unit (NAU) or those on-Island otherwise experiencing hardship. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Feed Cayman also offered food support for two+ years to those who had lost their jobs as a result of the Island’s border closure.
