About

The Cayman Islands Hospital is located in the heart of George Town. It is a modern 124-bed hospital, encompassing 139,066sq ft on two storeys and is the principal health care facility in the country. It offers accident and emergency services, a general practitioner clinic, full maternity services, haemodialysis, a full service outpatient pharmacy, as well as Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) at their new specialist clinic.

Diagnostic services include: mammography, radiology, paediatrics, operating theatres, physiotherapy, a pharmacy, laboratory services, a DNA forensic unit and many other facilities that can be expected in a modern healthcare setting.

Accident and Emergency: The A&E is very well staffed with a rotation of over twelve doctors.

General Clinic: Offers a range of general family health services as well as nursing care, family planning, government and immigration medicals, home visits, mental health counselling, STI services, and pharmacy. Their acute care clinic offers walk-in appointments and assists with everyday illnesses and injuries, including mild sprains and cuts, flu and colds.

Cayman Islands Hospital - Specialist Clinic

The Cayman Islands Hospital - Specialist Clinic provides a variety of services for children, adolescents, adults and their families. The new facility at Smith Road Centre is spacious and easily accessible, with a patient shuttle service to the Cayman Islands Hospital.

Specialist services include: gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics, operating theatres, physiotherapy, cardiology, internal medicine, dentistry, dermatology, haematology, oncology, urology, nutrition, psychology, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, gastroenterology, interventional radiology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, otorhinolaringology (ear, nose and throat) and chronic pain management. The CIH also brings many visiting specialists to the Island on a regular basis.

Maternity Ward
The Cayman Islands Hospital offers three single delivery suites, eight maternity rooms (three single and five double rooms) and is home to the only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the Island.

Behavioural Health Department (Mental Health)

Specialist services include: 24-hour patient emergency care, outpatient therapy, acute inpatient care, consultation and liaison services, community outreach and education, and research. Current specialities include therapy for anxiety, trauma, and depression; assessment and acute intervention for chronic cases; forensic assessments; neuropsychology and psychiatric consultation and medication management. The Behavioural Health Department is located at the Smith Road Specialist Clinic.

Forensic Science Laboratory
The Cayman Islands Forensic Science Laboratory is an established multifunctional, state of the art laboratory, operated by the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority in Grand Cayman. It offers expertise in a number of areas, including forensic biology and DNA testing, DNA databasing services, DNA paternity testing, forensic toxicology testing, forensic drug analysis, pathology, and forensic criminalistics testing in selected areas.

Nutrition Services
The Cayman Islands Hospital offers nutrition services at their General Practice Clinic weekly, as well as at the district health centres on a monthly and bi-monthly basis.

Services include: individualised detailed assessments and diet plans, weight management for adults and children, for eating healthily with diabetes, high cholesterol, and more.

Nutrition clinics are take place at the HSA Specialist Clinic on Tuesdays, 8.30am - 12pm, Thursdays 1.30pm-4pm, and on the first Monday of every month, there is a Paediatric nutrition clinic held from 1.30pm-4pm.

Dental Clinics
The Cayman Islands Hospital Dental Clinic and Merren Dental Clinic offers emergency services on a first come, first served basis.
